Cambodia is one of the fastest growing countries in the world. More people go there every year. Most of them start out in Phnom Penh. Many stay there too. Anywhere guys go there is going to be sex. So, male travelers want to know where to buy condoms in Phnom Penh.
Thankfully condoms are easy to find in Cambodia. There’s no campaign against sex. Condoms aren’t hidden away. They’ve done a pretty good job at promoting safe sex too. One website says, “HIV/AIDS rates in Cambodia have dropped so low that the country is one of few countries titled with being incredibly successful at reversing this epidemic.”
Safe sex in Cambodia
Prostitutes in the Philippines have a reputation for offering bareback service to customers. Regular Filipina women are even less likely to ask for a condom. Phnom Penh isn’t exactly like that but a lot of women still have unprotected sex.
The AIDS rate in Cambodia is considered low. That doesn’t mean there is now AIDS or HIV! We are not your doctor or spiritual advisor. We are just an information website. But obviously you should really think about wrapping up if you plan on having sex in Cambodia.
On top of HIV there are other diseases you can get from unprotected sex. Most of them are curable, but you still don’t want to get infected. You could even end up dealing with drug resistant gonorrhea or something. Nobody wants that.
Virtually no one uses birth control pills in Cambodia either. So if you have bareback sex and don’t pull out, you could end up fathering a child. That’s not the sort of thing you want to do by accident.
Where to buy condoms in Phnom Penh
Condoms are sold at every mini-mart in Phnom Penh. It’s not like Thailand where there is a 7Eleven on every street, but there are many mini-marts in Phnom Penh. They keep the condoms out in the open. They’re usually on the counter when you first walk in. You don’t have to ask for them.
There are many mini-marts right in the heat of the action. If you read our guy’s guide on where to stay in Phnom Penh you know that is the riverside area. There are many mini-marts around the girly bars in Phnom Penh. You’re never far from a condom seller.
There is no 7Eleven in Phnom Penh. Most mini-marts are local. Some of the mini-marts in Phnom Penh include:
- Smile Mart
- Panda Mart
- Kiwi Mart
Condoms are also sold at most pharmacies. If you have been to Phnom Penh, you know pharmacies are everywhere. It’s better buy condoms from a pharmacy with air conditioning. You don’t want to buy condoms that have been exposed to extreme heat and bright sun. The U-Care Pharmacy chain has stores all over Phnom Penh. Inside they have big displays of condoms and lube.
Unlike some other places, you can actually find good condoms in Phnom Penh. Ultra thin rubbers like the famous Okamoto Zero Zero Four from Japan are widely available. They aren’t cheap though. A three pack is close to six dollars. You don’t really need to bring your own condoms unless you want a quantity discount. Or, if you are too shy to buy condoms from a cute cashier at a mini-mart.
If you plan on having a lot of sex, we suggest you buy twelve packs of Crown Condoms and bring them to Cambodia. Crowns are inexpensive and really thin. Like the slogan says, they’re “the closest thing to nothing at all.”
If you are one of the many guys who has trouble feeling anything through a condom, we recommend the groundbreaking new Hex Condom from Lelo. They’re not cheap, but they are very good. What is your peace of mind worth anyway?
